Image Systems Limited is the local distributor for the whole range of Xerox products and is the authorised Xerox after-sales service provider. The company’s head office is based in Valletta, while the technical department and warehouse are based in Marsa.

Image Systems Limited was formed on the 6th of June 1978 as a private limited company with the objective of importing, selling and leasing of xerographic machines and accessories to the local market. It also provides technical advise, assistance and servicing of the whole range of Xerox products.

The company is one of the leading importers of office solutions in the local market. It also operates its own digital print shop which is situated in Valletta. The print shop offers a range of services which cater for all printing, copying and document finishing requirements.

History

Image Systems Ltd started off with a modest six people in 1978. It was mainly responsible for marketing, sales and after sales support of small Xerox copiers and typewriters in a somewhat protected market economy. A change in government in 1986 dropped all trade barriers and import restrictions with Japan and all other countries. The company faced for the first time the many challenges brought about by the free market and the emerging competition. These challenges brought declining sales and profits by the end of 1991.

The company had to focus on its important assets, its employees, to ensure recovery. All employees were trained in quality and customer satisfaction techniques and by the end of 1993, the qualities of all Images Systems’ employees made it possible to proceed with the introduction of a host of new technologically advance high end Xerox products. These products required a high level of support both during the warranty period and after.

A new type of service agreement that guarantees the total cost of ownership throughout the useful life of the equipment was launched. The Full Service and Maintenance Agreement that was introduced by Xerox covers all service, parts and labour for the contract period at a pre-determined cost per copy. This type of agreement was launched in 1992 and since then has become an industry standard.

In the late 1990’s Xerox launched digital equipment which was totally different range of equipment from the analogue machines that the market was used to. Image Systems faced yet another challenge to ensure that these products were launched correctly in the Maltese markets. The company invested in its people in every department, especially the sales and technical ones and through continuous training of its employees it managed to shift to digital in a skilful and successful manner. The large installation base of Xerox digital equipment is a clear result of the success of this exercise.
